After lots of kings who forgot God, along comes one named Asa who is different - in the very best way.
Today's Story
In these days, there were many kings, and a lot of them did wrong and forgot about God. King after king, it was sad to watch.
But then came a king of Judah named Asa - and Asa was different.
Asa loved God, and he was brave about it. When he saw things in the land that pulled people away from God, he cleared them out. He wanted his whole kingdom to follow the one true God. It wasn't always easy or popular, but Asa did the right thing anyway.
The Bible gives Asa a beautiful compliment. It says Asa's heart was fully committed to the LORD all his life. Fully committed - that means all-in, holding nothing back, his whole heart for God from beginning to end.
In a long line of kings who wandered, Asa showed that one person really can choose to follow God with their whole heart.
A Big Word
Memory Verse
Talk About It
- Asa was “fully committed” - all-in for God. What does it look like to be all-in about something?
- Asa did the right thing even when it wasn't popular. When is it hard to follow God when others around you don't?
- What is one way you could be “all-in” for God this week?
