Two young men become the best of friends — and show us what true, loyal friendship looks like.
Today's Story
After David bravely trusted God to defeat the giant Goliath, he came to live at the king's palace. There he met the king's son, a young man named Jonathan. And right away, David and Jonathan became the very best of friends! Their hearts were knit together in a deep, loyal friendship.
Jonathan loved David like his own self. To show how much he cared, Jonathan gave David his own royal robe, his belt, and even his sword and bow — special gifts to show their friendship was real and strong. They made a promise to always be loyal friends, no matter what.
This was a special friendship, because Jonathan was the king's son — and one day David, not Jonathan, would be king! Jonathan could have been jealous. But instead, he loved David and supported him, putting friendship above himself.
That's what real friendship looks like: loyal, generous, kind, and not jealous. Good friends celebrate each other, share with each other, and stick together through everything. God gives us the gift of friends — let's be the kind David and Jonathan were.
