Paul has happy news and comforting news for his friends. He wants them to keep loving each other, and to look forward to Jesus coming back.
Today's Story
Paul wanted his friends to keep doing the good things they were already doing. So he wrote, “You already love each other. Now do it more and more!”
He told them to live quiet, kind lives — to mind their own work, to be honest, and to help each other. Love that grows is the best kind of love.
Then Paul shared some news that wiped away tears. Some of his friends were sad because people they loved had died. They missed them so much.
Paul said, “I do not want you to be sad like people who have no hope.” Here is the hope: one day Jesus will come back! Paul said Jesus will come down from heaven, and everyone who belongs to Him will be with Him again. No more goodbyes. No more tears.
And Paul said the most comforting thing of all: “We will be with the Lord forever.” So he told them, “Cheer each other up with these words.”
