2 Chronicles 34 for Kids

For Kids · 4 min with a grown-up

A young king named Josiah loves God while he is still a boy — and then a lost book of God's words is found!

Today's Story

Josiah became king when he was just eight years old — younger than some big brothers and sisters! And while he was still young, he began to look for God with his whole heart. He wanted to do what was right.

When Josiah grew a little older, he said, “Let's fix up God's house. It has been broken for too long.” So workers came with hammers and wood to make it beautiful again.

While they were cleaning, a helper found something dusty and important — a scroll. It was the lost Book of God's words! Nobody had read it in years and years. They hurried to read it to the king.

When Josiah heard God's words, he was so moved that he tore his robe and cried. “We have not been listening to God!” he said. He was truly sorry, and he wanted to make things right.

So Josiah gathered everyone — young and old — and read God's words out loud to them all. Then he promised to follow God with all his heart and all his soul. And the people promised too.
