King Josiah throws the biggest celebration in years, so everyone can remember how God rescued His people long ago.
Today's Story
King Josiah wanted everyone to remember a wonderful thing God had done long ago, when He rescued His people and led them out of a faraway land. So Josiah planned a huge celebration called the Passover.
He got everything ready. He gave the people thousands of animals for the feast from his very own flocks. The singers stood in their places and sang. The helpers worked hard and joyfully. Everyone had a part to play.
It was a happy, busy day! Families came from all over. They ate together and worshiped God together and remembered His goodness together. There had not been a Passover like it in a very, very long time.
Josiah did this with his whole heart, because he loved God and wanted his people to love God too. He was a good and faithful king for many years.
Later, Josiah went out to a battle, and there he was hurt and died. All the people were very sad. They cried for their good king, who had led them back to God. They remembered him for a long, long time.
