2 Chronicles 7 for Kids

For Kids · 4 min with a grown-up

Solomon just finished praying to dedicate the new temple. Now watch what God does — and listen to the beautiful promise He makes.

Today's Story

King Solomon finished his prayer. And then something amazing happened. Fire came down from heaven! It came right down on the gifts the people had brought to God. Whoosh!

And the bright, shining glory of God filled the whole temple. It was so wonderful that the priests could not even go inside.

When the people saw the fire and the glory come down, they bowed low with their faces to the ground. They worshiped. They said, “The LORD is good. His love goes on forever!”

The whole nation had a huge celebration. There was music and singing and thankful hearts for days and days. Then everyone went home happy.

That night, God spoke to Solomon. He made him a promise. “I have heard your prayer,” God said. “If my people get into trouble because they have done wrong, here is what they should do. They should pray. They should turn back to me. And then I will hear them from heaven. I will forgive them, and I will make things right again.”

A Big Word

Memory Verse

Talk About It

  1. When something goes wrong in your day, who do you usually go to first? What would it look like to talk to God about it too?
  2. The people bowed down and said, “The LORD is good!” What is one good thing God has done that makes you want to say thank you?
  3. God promised to hear us when we pray and turn back to Him. How does it feel to know God is always listening?
