2 Chronicles 8 for Kids

For Kids · 3 min with a grown-up

The temple is finished, but King Solomon is just getting started. This chapter is like a peek at his big to-do list — and the one thing he never forgot.

Today's Story

King Solomon was a busy builder. After the temple was done, he kept on working.

He built whole towns. He built strong walls to keep his people safe. He built special cities just to store food, and other cities to keep his horses and chariots. He even sent ships out on the sea to bring back gold from far away.

Solomon worked hard, and he did everything carefully and well. But here is the best part. With all that building and all that gold, Solomon did not forget the most important thing of all: he worshiped God.

Three special times every year, Solomon brought gifts to God at the temple. And he made sure the singers sang and the temple helpers did their jobs, just the way his father David had planned long ago.

Building, sailing, working, worshiping — Solomon gave God his very best.

A Big Word

Talk About It

  1. What is something you worked really hard on lately? How did it feel when you did your best?
  2. Solomon was super busy, but he still made time for God. What is one little way our family can make time for God this week?
  3. Solomon gave God his best gold and his best singing. What is a “best” thing you could give to God?
