When the leaders tell Peter and John to stop talking about Jesus, the friends give a brave answer.
Today's Story
After the lame man was healed, Peter and John kept telling everyone about Jesus, and many people believed. But this made the important leaders upset. They arrested Peter and John and put them in jail overnight!
The next day, the leaders questioned them. “By what power did you heal that man?” Peter, full of the Holy Spirit, answered boldly: “It was by the name of Jesus! He is the only One who can save us.” The leaders were amazed at how brave these ordinary fishermen were.
The leaders didn't know what to do. They couldn't say the man wasn't healed — he was standing right there! So they warned Peter and John, “Stop talking about Jesus!” But Peter and John said, “We can't help it! We have to tell what we've seen and heard.”
When they were let go, the believers all prayed together: “Lord, make us brave to keep telling about You!” And the place shook, and they were filled with even more boldness. They shared everything they had with each other, and God's family grew and grew.
A Big Word
Memory Verse
Talk About It
- The leaders told Peter and John to stop, but they couldn't stop talking about Jesus. Why were they so excited to tell others?
- The believers prayed for BOLDNESS, not for safety. What do you think it means to be bold for Jesus?
- After they prayed, God made them even braver. How can prayer help us be brave?
