Colossians 3 for Kids

For Kids · 4 min with a grown-up

Paul keeps writing his letter to help God's family love God and love each other.

Now he tells his friends what it looks like to live Jesus' way every day.

Today's Story

Every morning we choose what clothes to put on. Paul said following Jesus is a little like getting dressed — but on the inside.

“Put on kindness,” Paul wrote to his friends. “Put on gentleness. Put on patience. And do not forget to forgive each other, the way God forgave you.”

He told them to wear these like their favorite cozy clothes, every single day. And over the top of all of it, Paul said, put on love. Love holds everything else together.

Paul also said to let your hearts be full of thank-you and singing. When you are thankful, your heart feels light and glad.

Then Paul said something we can remember when we clean up our toys, or help in the kitchen, or do our schoolwork. “Whatever you do,” he wrote, “do it with all your heart. Do it as if you are doing it for the Lord.”

That means even small jobs become special when we do them for Jesus. Sweeping a floor or sharing a toy can be a gift to Him when we do it with a happy, full heart.

A Big Word

Memory Verse

Talk About It

  1. What is a job you have to do today — like cleaning up or helping out? How could you do it with all your heart for Jesus?
  2. Paul said to put on kindness and gentleness like clothes. Which one is the easiest for you to wear? Which one is the hardest?
  3. Forgiving means being friends again. Is there someone you need to forgive, or who you could say sorry to?
