Deuteronomy 10 for Kids

For Kids · 4 min with a grown-up

Moses asks the people a great big question: out of everything in the whole world, what does God really want from us?

Today's Story

Moses had told the people so many things. Now he asked one simple question that wrapped it all up.

“People of God, what does the Lord really want from you?”

Everyone waited. What would it be?

“Just this,” said Moses. “Love God. Walk close to Him. Serve Him with your whole heart. And keep His good ways, because they are for your good.”

Then Moses told them something wonderful about God. “Our God is the greatest of all. The whole sky and the whole earth belong to Him! And yet,” Moses said, “He bends down low to take care of the ones nobody else helps. He watches over children with no mom or dad. He cares for mothers all alone. He loves strangers who are far from home, and gives them food and clothes.”

“So you do the same,” Moses said gently. “Love the people who need it most. Be kind to the stranger, because once you were strangers too.”

Talk About It

  1. Who is someone at your school or in your neighborhood who might feel left out or lonely? What is one kind thing you could do for them?
  2. Moses said God takes care of people who have no one else. How does it make you feel to know God notices the people everyone else forgets?
  3. What does it mean to love God with your “whole heart”? What is one way you could show God you love Him today?
