Deuteronomy 11 for Kids

For Kids · 4 min with a grown-up

Moses tells the people a wonderful trick for never forgetting God: keep His words close to you all day long.

Today's Story

“Love God,” Moses told the people. “And do what He says, because His ways are always good for you.”

Then Moses gave them a wonderful idea for remembering. “Keep God's words close to you all the time. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk down the road. Talk about them in the morning when you wake up and at night when you go to bed.”

“Write them on your hands so you see them. Write them on the doorways of your house so you read them every time you walk in. Teach them to your children, again and again.”

Moses wanted God's words to be everywhere — not stuck in one book on a shelf, but in their hearts and homes and talk all day long.

“There are two ways to walk,” Moses said at the end. “One way follows God, and it leads to a happy, blessed life. The other way forgets God, and it only leads to sadness. Choose the happy way. Choose God.”

Talk About It

  1. What is something you do every single day without forgetting, like brushing your teeth? How could you make remembering God a daily habit too?
  2. Moses said to talk about God at home, on the road, morning and night. When is a good time for YOUR family to talk about God?
  3. Moses said there are two ways to walk — one toward God and one away. What helps you choose the happy way that follows God?
