Moses keeps teaching God's people how to be good and fair. Today's big lesson is about keeping the promises you make.
Today's Story
Moses gave God's people rules to help them be honest and fair with everyone.
One rule was about promises. God said, “When you make a promise to Me, keep it! Don't be slow about it. Do what you said you would do.” Then God said something interesting: “It is better not to promise at all than to make a promise and never keep it.”
Think about that. A promise is a big deal! When you say, “I will,” you should really mean it. God wants His people to be the kind of people whose words you can trust.
God gave another kind rule too. He said, “If someone runs to you needing a safe place, don't send them away. Be kind. Let them stay.” God's people were supposed to be a soft, safe place for people who were scared or alone.
So when you say something, mean it. When you promise something, do it. And when someone needs help, be kind. That's how God's people live.
A Big Word
Memory Verse
Talk About It
- Has anyone ever made you a promise and then kept it? How did that make you feel about them?
- Has anyone ever broken a promise to you? How did that feel? Why do you think keeping promises matters so much to God?
- God said to be kind to someone who needs a safe place. Who could YOU help feel safe and welcome?
