Deuteronomy 28 for Kids

For Kids · 4 min with a grown-up

Moses showed God's people two paths — and he wanted them to choose the one full of good things.

Today's Story

Moses gathered the people close. “Listen carefully,” he said. “If you walk with God and follow His good ways, watch how He will care for you!”

And then Moses told them all the good things God wanted to give. “You will be blessed in the city and blessed in the country. Your fields will grow plenty of food. Your families will be happy. You will be blessed when you come in, and blessed when you go out. God will open the sky and send rain at just the right time.” God's heart was so full of good things He wanted to give!

But Moses also gave a gentle warning. “If you turn away from God and forget Him, it will bring sadness — like wandering away from Someone who loves you.” God didn't say this to be scary. He said it because He loved them, the way a mom or dad warns a child to stay close and safe.

So Moses said, in his loving, old voice: stay close to God. Walk His good way. There is so much good waiting for the people who hold on to Him.

Talk About It

  1. What is one good thing God has given you this week? Did you know God loves to fill His people's lives with good?
  2. God promised to bless His people wherever they went. Where are some places you go that God is with you?
  3. Moses warned the people kindly, the way a parent warns a child to stay safe. Why do you think God gives us gentle warnings because He loves us?
