Deuteronomy 3 for Kids

For Kids · 4 min with a grown-up

Moses keeps remembering how God helped His people, and what God said when Moses asked Him a big question.

Today's Story

God's people kept traveling, and God kept helping them. “Don't be afraid,” God told them. “I will go with you.” And God kept them safe, just like He promised.

Moses began to share out the land, like a dad handing each child their own room. “This part is for your family. This part is for yours.” There was room for everyone.

Then Moses asked God something close to his heart. “Please, God, may I cross over and see the good land too?”

Gently, God said no. But God did something kind. “Climb up the mountain, Moses, and look. You can SEE the whole beautiful land with your own eyes.” So Moses looked out, and it was lovely.

Then God said, “Joshua will lead the people in. Help him be strong and brave. I will be with him, just like I have been with you.”

Even when the answer was no, Moses still trusted that God is good.

A Big Word

Memory Verse

Talk About It

  1. Has someone ever told you “no” or “not right now”? How did you feel? How did you handle it?
  2. God said no to Moses, but still showed him the beautiful land. How can we trust that God is good, even when we don't get what we ask for?
  3. God told Joshua to be strong and brave. Who is someone you could cheer on and help to be brave this week?
