Deuteronomy 30 for Kids

For Kids · 4 min with a grown-up

Moses gave the people one of the most important choices of their lives — and God made it so easy to choose right.

Today's Story

Moses was almost finished with his big goodbye talk. He had something close to his heart to tell the people.

“If you ever wander away from God,” Moses said gently, “you can always come back. The moment you turn to Him, He will run to welcome you home. God never stops loving His people.”

“And God's good way isn't too hard or too far away,” Moses went on. “It's not up in the sky where you can't reach it. It's not across the sea. It's right here — in your mouth and in your heart. You can do it!”

Then Moses said the biggest words of all. He held out two paths. “Today I set before you life and good, or sadness and harm. So choose life! Choose to love God and hold on to Him — so you and your children will live and be glad.”

God wasn't far off. He was holding out His hand, full of good, and saying, “Choose Me. I am your life.” What a kind God, to make the best choice so clear.

  2. God said His good way is “right here, in your heart” — not too hard to reach. What is one way you could choose to follow God today?
  3. Moses said God always welcomes His people back when they come to Him. How does it feel to know God runs to welcome you, no matter what?
