Moses is very old now. Before he says goodbye, he tells God's people the best secret for being brave.
Today's Story
Moses was very, very old. He was a hundred and twenty years old! He stood in front of all of God's people one more time.
“I can't lead you anymore,” Moses said gently. “But don't worry. God is the One who will go in front of you. He will not let you down.”
Then Moses called for a young man named Joshua. He looked Joshua right in the eyes, in front of everyone. “Be strong and brave,” he said. “You will lead these people into the good land. Don't be scared. God will go with you. He will never, ever leave you.”
Moses wrote down all of God's words in a big book so the people would never forget them. “Read these words out loud,” he told them. “Read them to the grown-ups. Read them to the little children too. Let everyone hear how much God loves them.”
God was passing the job to a new leader. But the people did not need to be afraid. The same strong, kind God who had cared for them all along was going with them — every single step.
