A long time before, God gave His people ten special rules. Now Moses says them again, so everyone remembers.
Today's Story
Moses gathered everyone close. “Listen,” he said. “God gave us ten good rules to live by. Let me say them again.”
The first rules teach us how to love God: “Love God most of all. Don't make pretend gods. Say God's name with love, not for silly reasons. And keep one special day each week to rest and remember Him.”
The next rules teach us how to love people: “Honor your mom and dad. Don't hurt others. Keep your promises. Don't take what isn't yours. Always tell the truth. And be happy with what you have instead of wishing for other people's things.”
Ten good rules! They weren't to make God's people sad. They were a gift — a way to keep everyone safe and happy and close to God.
“Follow these,” Moses said, “and things will go well for you. God gave them because He loves you.”
