Deuteronomy 6 for Kids

For Kids · 4 min with a grown-up

This is one of the most important things God ever said to His people. Many families say these words every single day.

Today's Story

Moses had something so important to say that he wanted every single person to hear it. He raised his voice: “Listen, everyone! The Lord is our God. The Lord is the one and only!”

Then he said the biggest, warmest command of all: “Love the Lord your God with ALL your heart, and ALL your soul, and ALL your strength.”

That means love God with every part of you — the giggling part, the thinking part, the running-and-jumping part. Love Him with the whole of you!

Then Moses told the grown-ups how to share this love. “Keep these words in your heart. Teach them to your children. Talk about them when you wake up, when you eat, when you walk down the road, and when you go to bed at night.”

God's love wasn't just for one moment on Sunday. It was for breakfast and bedtime and everything in between — all day, every day.

A Big Word

Memory Verse

Talk About It

  1. Who are the people YOU love with all your heart? How do you show them?
  2. Loving God with all your strength means even with your body. How could you love God when you are running, playing, or helping?
  3. Moses said to talk about God all day — at breakfast, on a walk, at bedtime. When is a good time for our family to talk about God?
