The bad law can't be undone — but the king gives God's people a wonderful new one, and sadness turns to joy.
Today's Story
Queen Esther and Mordecai were safe, but there was still a problem: the wicked law against the Jewish people had already been sent out across the kingdom, and in those days, a king's law couldn't simply be erased.
So the king did something wonderful. He gave Mordecai his royal ring and said, “Write a NEW law to help your people!” So Mordecai wrote a new law giving the Jewish people the right to gather together and protect themselves. Fast messengers on horses raced the good news to every corner of the kingdom.
Mordecai, who had once been in danger, now walked out in beautiful royal robes of blue and white, with a golden crown! The whole city cheered.
And for the Jewish people, the news brought such relief and happiness. The Bible says it was a time of joy and gladness, happiness and honor. Their sadness and fear turned into celebration! God had rescued them.
