Exodus 39 for Kids

For Kids · 3 min with a grown-up

The skilled workers finish making the priests' beautiful clothes — and the Bible says the same wonderful phrase over and over.

Today's Story

The skilled workers carefully made all the priests' special clothes — the colorful robes, the breastpiece with its twelve sparkling stones for the twelve tribes, and the crown that said “Holy to the Lord.” Beautiful work, made with care.

And as the Bible describes each piece, it says the same thing again and again, like a happy drumbeat: “…just as the Lord commanded Moses.” Over and over: just as the Lord commanded… just as the Lord commanded. They did EVERYTHING exactly the way God said.

Finally, all the work was done. The people brought every finished piece to Moses to check. And when Moses looked it all over and saw that they had done it all just as the Lord commanded — he blessed them!

The job was complete, and done right. Doing things God's way, all the way through — that's something worth celebrating.

A Big Word

Memory Verse

Talk About It

  1. The Bible says “just as the Lord commanded” over and over. Why do you think it repeats it so many times?
  2. When Moses saw they'd done it all right, he blessed them. How does it feel when you finish a job well and someone is proud of you?
  3. They obeyed God all the way, not just partly. What's the difference between obeying part-way and obeying all the way?
