Ezekiel 11 for Kids

For Kids · 4 min with a grown-up

God's people were far from home and some of their leaders were giving them all the wrong advice. But God had a wonderful promise ready — a brand-new heart.

Today's Story

In his vision, Ezekiel saw the leaders of the city. They were busy giving bad advice and telling people to do unkind things. Their hearts had grown hard, like cold gray stone.

God was sad about it. But God did not stop there. He had good news — the best news — for all His people who were far away from home.

“I have not forgotten you,” God said. “You are scattered all over, but I am with you wherever you are. And one day I will gather you up and bring you home.”

Then God made an amazing promise. “I will give you a brand-new heart,” He said. “I will take out the cold, hard, stony heart — and I will put in a soft, warm heart instead. A heart that loves Me. A heart that wants to do what is good.”

Imagine that! God can reach right inside a person and swap a heart of stone for a heart that is soft and full of love. Nobody else can do that. Only God.

So even on a sad day, far from home, God's people had something wonderful to hold onto: God was going to make their hearts new.

A Big Word

Memory Verse

Talk About It

  1. Have you ever felt your heart go a little “hard” — like when you were too grumpy or stubborn to say sorry? What helped it get soft again?
  2. God said He can swap a cold stone heart for a soft, loving one. Why do you think only God can do something that amazing?
  3. God did not forget His people even when they were far from home. When do you most want to remember that God is right there with you?
