One day God did something amazing — He lifted Ezekiel up and carried him far away in a vision, to show him something only God could see.
Today's Story
Ezekiel was sitting in his house with the leaders of God's people. Then, all at once, he saw a shining figure like fire and gleaming gold. The figure reached out, and something like a hand took hold of a lock of Ezekiel's hair.
And up he went! In the vision, God lifted Ezekiel high into the air and carried him all the way to the great temple in the city of Jerusalem — the special place built for praying to God.
“Look,” God said. “Look at what My people are doing in secret.”
So Ezekiel looked. Right there, even inside the temple, people were bowing to pretend gods. Some were hiding in dark rooms behind closed doors, whispering to statues on the walls, thinking, “No one can see us here. God will never know.”
But God did see. There is no room dark enough, no door shut tight enough, to hide anything from God. He sees everything, everywhere, all the time.
It made God sad to see His people sneaking around. But there was a comfort in it too: a God who sees everything is a God who never loses sight of the people He loves.
A Big Word
Memory Verse
Talk About It
- Have you ever tried to do something where you hoped nobody would see you? How did it feel inside?
- The people thought God could not see them behind closed doors. Why is it actually a good thing that God sees us all the time, even in the dark?
- Since God already sees everything anyway, we never have to hide from Him. What is something you want to tell God honestly right now?
