The building had stopped. The people felt stuck. But God was about to send some help.
Today's Story
The work on God's house had stopped, and the people felt stuck and tired.
So God sent two special messengers named Haggai and Zechariah. Their job was to bring God's words and cheer the people on. “Get up! Keep building!” they said. “God is with you!”
And it worked. The leaders rolled up their sleeves and started building again. Hammers tapped and stones were stacked. The good work was back!
Soon some important officials came walking up. They put their hands on their hips and asked, “Who said you could build this? Who gave you permission?”
The people were not scared. They told the truth, plain and brave. “We serve the God of heaven, the One who made the sky and the ground. A long time ago, King Cyrus himself told us to build this house. So that is exactly what we are doing.”
The officials decided to write a letter to the king to check if it was true. And the whole time, God was watching over His people with kind, caring eyes, so the work could keep going.
A Big Word
Memory Verse
Talk About It
- When you feel tired or sad, who is someone who cheers you up and helps you keep going?
- The people told the truth even when it felt a little scary. When is a time it is hard to tell the truth?
- God was watching over His people the whole time. How does it feel to know God is watching over you too?
