Hebrews 5 for Kids

For Kids · 4 min with a grown-up

Hebrews is a letter to God's family to help them love God and grow strong.

In this part, the letter shows that Jesus is the perfect helper who connects us to God, and it gently says: keep growing!

Today's Story

Long ago, God's family had special helpers called priests. A priest had a very important job: he stood in the middle, between the people and God, helping them come close to God and bringing their prayers to Him. Think of a priest like a friendly bridge.

The letter says Jesus is the greatest helper of all — the very best bridge between us and God. And here is something tender: when Jesus lived on earth, He prayed to God with loud cries and tears. Jesus knows what it is like to feel everything you feel.

Even though Jesus is God's Son, He learned to obey and trust His Father through hard times. And now He helps every one of us come close to God.

Then the letter gives a gentle nudge. It says some of God's family had stopped growing. They were still drinking baby milk when they should have been eating big-kid food! The letter says: keep learning, keep growing, get stronger in knowing God.

Just like your body grows when you eat good food, your heart grows when you learn about Jesus. So keep going!
