For Kids · 3 min with a grown-up
God's people had wandered off, like sheep who walked away from the shepherd. God still loved them — and He was waiting for them to come looking for Him.
Today's Story
Have you ever wandered off in a big store and looked up to find your grown-up gone? Your tummy flips. You look one way, then the other. You really, really want to be found.
That is a little bit how God's people were living. They had wandered away from Him. They tried to fix their troubles all by themselves. They asked everyone for help except the One who loved them most.
So God said something surprising. “I will wait,” He said. “I will give them room to look up and notice I am not beside them. And when they start to search for Me with all their hearts — they will find Me.”
God was not being mean. He was being like a loving parent who steps back just a little so a child will turn around and call out, “Where are you?”
Because here is the secret: God was never far. He was waiting, ready, watching for the very first moment His people turned to look for Him.
And the second they did — there He was. He always is.
