Isaiah 11 for Kids

For Kids · 4 min with a grown-up

Isaiah paints a beautiful picture of a coming King, and a world so peaceful that even the animals are friends.

Today's Story

Isaiah told the people about a wonderful day that was coming. He said a special King would grow up, like a fresh green branch growing out of an old tree stump - from the family of a man named Jesse.

This King would be full of God's Spirit. He would be wise and strong and kind. He would not be fooled by how things look on the outside. He would always be fair, and He would take special care of people who are little and gentle.

And the world this King would bring? Listen to how peaceful it would be:

A wolf would lie down next to a lamb, like best friends. A leopard would rest beside a baby goat. A calf and a lion would eat side by side - and a little child would lead them all!

A baby could play right by a snake's hole and not get hurt. Nothing and no one would hurt or harm anything in all of God's holy mountain.

Why? Because the whole earth would be full of people who know and love God - as full as the ocean is full of water.

A Big Word

Talk About It

  1. If a lion and a lamb could be friends, which two animals would YOU love to see snuggle up together?
  2. In God's peaceful world, nothing is scary anymore. What is one scary thing you will be happy is gone forever?
  3. A little child gets to lead the animals in this picture. What does that tell you about how God feels about kids?
