Isaiah 13 for Kids

For Kids · 3 min with a grown-up

The prophet Isaiah brings a message about a big, proud city called Babylon. It is a reminder that God always sets things right in the end.

Today's Story

God gave the prophet Isaiah a message about a city called Babylon.

Babylon was huge and strong. The people there had grown very proud. They thought they were the greatest, and they were not kind to others. They acted like they would never have to answer to anybody.

So God told Isaiah to give them a warning. “The day is coming,” God said, “when all this proud bragging will stop. The big, strong city will not stay big and strong forever.”

It can be a little scary to hear that the proud are brought low. But here is the reason behind it: God sees when people are unkind, and He does not just look away. He cares about the ones who are being hurt. He promised that mean things and proud things would not get to win in the end.

God is gentle with people who come to Him. But He will not let proud, unkind cities push others around forever. One day He makes everything right - and that is good news for everyone who is small and waiting for help.

A Big Word

Talk About It

  1. Have you ever seen someone act like they were better than everybody else? How did that feel to be around?
  2. It is good news that God sees when people are treated unkindly. Why do you think it matters that God never looks away?
  3. What is one way you can be humble and kind to someone tomorrow?
