The prophet Isaiah told the people something important: it matters a great deal what you build your life on.
Today's Story
Isaiah saw that many people had stopped trusting God. They thought they could keep themselves safe all by themselves. Gently, like a good friend, Isaiah warned them: that wasn't going to work.
Then God gave Isaiah a wonderful promise to share. He talked about building.
If you want to build a house, you need a strong base underneath it first. Builders call that base the foundation. And the most important stone in the foundation is the corner one - the cornerstone. Everything else lines up with it.
“Look!” God said. “I am putting down a stone in My city. A tested stone. A precious cornerstone. A sure foundation.”
It was the strongest, most trustworthy stone there could ever be. And God made a promise about it: “The one who trusts in it will never be shaken.”
If you build your life on God, you are building on a rock that will never crack, never crumble, and never let you down. Storms can come and winds can blow - but a house built on that stone will stand firm.
A Big Word
Memory Verse
Talk About It
- Have you ever built something with blocks that fell over? What happens when the bottom isn't strong?
- God promised that whoever trusts His stone “will never be shaken.” What does it mean to build your life on God instead of on yourself?
- When something feels wobbly or scary in your day, how could it help to remember that God is your strong, sure foundation?
