Isaiah 35 for Kids

For Kids · 4 min with a grown-up

Right after a hard chapter, Isaiah shares one of the happiest promises in the whole Bible. Get ready - this one is full of joy.

Today's Story

Picture a desert. Dry, dusty sand as far as you can see. No flowers. No water. No singing birds. Just hot, empty ground where nothing grows.

Now picture this: God says that very desert is going to bloom. Suddenly there are flowers everywhere - bright and beautiful, popping up out of the dry sand! Water comes bubbling up where there was none. Bushes turn green. The whole desert bursts into singing for joy.

That is the picture God gave Isaiah. And it was not only about the ground. God said, “Be strong. Do not be afraid. Your God is coming to save you!”

When God comes, wonderful things happen. People who could not see will open their eyes and see. People who could not hear will hear. People whose legs did not work will jump like deer! And people who were too sad to talk will sing out loud.

God even makes a safe road home - a road with no lions, no scary things, just a clear path. And everyone walking home is singing. The Bible says that on that road, “sorrow and sadness will run away” and never come back.

No more crying. Just joy that lasts forever.

Talk About It

  1. What is something that makes you so happy you want to sing or jump? Show me!
  2. God can bring flowers to a dry desert and joy to a sad heart. Is there something sad in your life right now that you can ask God to help with?
  3. Isaiah says one day all sadness will run away and never come back. What do you think a world with no more crying would feel like?
