Isaiah the prophet shared an amazing surprise: God knew exactly how He was going to rescue His people, long before it happened.
Today's Story
God told Isaiah a name. The name was Cyrus - a king who had not even been born yet! God said, “One day, a king named Cyrus will set my people free. I will go ahead of him and open the gates so no door can stop him.”
How could God know a name so far ahead of time? Because God is in charge of everything. He said, “I am the Lord. There is no other God. I make the light and the dark. I made the earth and the people on it. I stretched out the sky with my own hands.”
Then God told a little picture-story. Does a lump of clay ever argue with the potter who is shaping it? Does it say, “Hey, what are you making?” Of course not! The potter knows just what he is doing. And God knows just what He is doing with us. We can trust Him.
Then God opened His arms wide to the whole world. He didn't just want to help one group of people. He called out: “Turn to me and be saved, everyone, everywhere, all the way to the ends of the earth! I am God, and there is no other.”
It was an invitation for everybody - near and far, big and small. Everyone is invited to come to the one true God.
A Big Word
Memory Verse
Talk About It
- God knew King Cyrus's name before he was even born! What is something about your day that God already knows about before it happens?
- God is like a potter shaping clay, and He knows just what He's doing with you. Is there something you can trust Him with even when you don't understand it yet?
- God invited everyone, everywhere, to come to Him. Who is someone you'd love to tell about God?
