Isaiah 49 for Kids

For Kids · 4 min with a grown-up

This is one of the most comforting chapters in the whole Bible. God promises that He will never, ever forget you.

Today's Story

God had a special Helper He was going to send into the world. And this Helper had a big job.

God said, “It is not enough for you to help just one group of people. I am making you a light for the whole world - so that everyone, everywhere, can find their way to Me.” A light for the WHOLE world! That is a picture of Jesus, who came so that every kind of person could know God.

But God's people were feeling sad and forgotten. They said, “Maybe God has forgotten all about us.”

So God said something so warm and gentle that we still hold onto it today. He said, “Can a mother forget the little baby she is feeding? Can she stop loving the child she carried? Even if she could forget - and she would not! - I will never forget you.”

Then God said the most amazing thing: “Look! I have written your name on the palms of My hands.”

Imagine that. Your name, written right on God's hands, where He can see it all the time. You are not forgotten. You never could be. God thinks about you all day long.

Talk About It

  1. Have you ever felt left out or forgotten, even for a little while? What happened?
  2. God says He could never forget you - even more than a mom could forget her baby. How does it feel to know God thinks about you all day?
  3. God made His Helper a light for the WHOLE world. Who is someone you could shine God's love to this week?
