Isaiah 55 for Kids

For Kids · 4 min with a grown-up

Imagine the best gift in the world, and it's completely free - you just have to come and take it. That's what God offers in this chapter.

Today's Story

Have you ever been SO thirsty on a hot day that all you could think about was a big, cool drink of water?

God called out to His people like a kind voice on that hot day: “Come! Everyone who is thirsty, come to the water! And if you don't have any money - come anyway! Come and eat. Come and drink. It's all free!”

God wasn't really talking about juice and snacks. He was saying, “Come close to ME. I'm the One who can fill up the thirsty place inside you. And you can't buy it - it's My gift.”

“Why spend your money on things that never fill you up?” God asked. “Come to Me, and really live!”

Then God told them how big and wise He is. “My thoughts are higher than your thoughts,” He said, “as high as the sky is above the ground.” God always knows best.

And God promised that whatever He says always comes true. Just like rain and snow fall down and make the plants grow, God's words always do exactly what He sends them to do.

Isaiah said the people who come to God will go out full of joy. The mountains will sing, and even the trees will clap their hands!

A Big Word

Memory Verse

Talk About It

  1. When have you been really, really thirsty? How good did that first sip of water feel?
  2. God says coming to Him is free - you don't have to earn it. Why do you think God wanted everyone to know it's a gift?
  3. Isaiah said the trees will “clap their hands” with joy. If trees could clap, what do you think they'd be so happy about?
