Isaiah 57 for Kids

For Kids · 3 min with a grown-up

Some of God's people had wandered far away and forgotten Him. But even then, God's heart was to bring them back, heal them, and give them peace.

Today's Story

Some of God's people had wandered away. Little by little, they had stopped listening to God and started doing whatever they wanted. They had forgotten the One who loved them best.

Wandering away from God always left them tired and unhappy. They went looking for good things in all the wrong places, and they came home empty every time.

But God didn't give up on them. He told them something amazing about Himself. God said, “I live in a high and holy place, far above everything.” God is the biggest, highest King there is!

And then God said the part that might surprise you. “But I also live with the person whose heart is humble and sad. I come close to lift them up and make their hearts new again.”

The highest King in the whole universe loves to come down low and sit right beside the person who is sorry and hurting.

God promised, “I have seen the way they live. But I will heal them. I will guide them and comfort them. I will give them peace, peace.”

No matter how far they had wandered, God's arms were open to bring them home.

A Big Word

Talk About It

  1. Have you ever gone looking for fun or happiness somewhere and come back feeling empty instead? Where do you think real, lasting happiness comes from?
  2. God is the highest King, yet He comes close to people who are sad and sorry. What does that tell you about how God feels about you when you're hurting?
  3. God promised to heal, guide, comfort, and bring peace. Which of those four words do you need most today?
