God loves to teach with pictures. In this chapter He uses something everyday — a belt — to show how close He wants us to be to Him.
Today's Story
One day God gave Jeremiah a picture to help the people understand something important.
God told him to think about a belt. In those days, a belt was made of soft cloth, and you wrapped it snug around your middle to hold your clothes in place. The belt did its job by staying close. Pressed right up against the person, it was useful and good.
God said, “That is how close I want My people to be to Me. I wrapped them around Myself like a belt, near My heart, so they could be My very own — loved and special and known.”
It was a beautiful picture. God didn't want His people far away. He wanted them right beside Him, every single day, sharing everything with Him.
And the same is true for you. God made you to stay close to Him. When you talk to Him, listen to Him, and walk with Him, you are exactly where He always wanted you to be — near.
