Jeremiah is sometimes called the prophet who cried. He loved God's people, and it made him sad when they were unkind to each other.
Today's Story
Jeremiah was so sad that he cried. He wished he had a fountain of tears, because his heart hurt for God's people.
Why was he sad? The people were not being kind to each other. They said one thing and did another. They told little lies. They forgot all about God and only thought about themselves.
Then God said something really important. He said, “Don't brag that you are the smartest. Don't brag that you are the strongest. Don't brag that you have the most toys or money. If you want to be proud of something, be proud of this: that you know Me — the God who is kind, and fair, and loving.”
That is the very best thing anyone can have. Not being the smartest or the fastest. Just knowing the God who loves you, and learning to be kind like He is.
