Job 34 for Kids

For Kids · 3 min with a grown-up

Job and his friends are still wrestling with why hard things happen. In Job 34, Elihu keeps talking, and he says something important about God.

Today's Story

Elihu kept going, and he said one thing over and over so nobody would miss it: God is always fair.

“Listen, everyone,” Elihu said. “Let's think this through together. God never does anything wrong. Not ever. He always does what is right.”

“God sees everything,” Elihu said. “He sees every single step a person takes. Nobody can hide from Him in the dark. He knows what is fair better than anyone.”

“A good king tries to be fair to his people,” Elihu said. “And God is even better than the best king. He treats everyone fairly — the rich and the poor, the strong and the weak. He made them all.”

It can be hard to understand why sad things happen. But Elihu wanted Job to hold on to this: whatever else is true, God is never unfair. We can trust Him to do what is right.

A Big Word

Memory Verse

Talk About It

  1. When has something felt really unfair to you? How did it make you feel?
  2. Elihu says God always does what is right, even when we don't understand. Why might it help to remember that when things feel unfair?
  3. God sees every step everyone takes. How does it feel to know God always sees you — even when no one else does?
