Elihu is still helping Job think about God. In Job 35, he points way up at the sky to show how big God is.
Today's Story
Elihu pointed up at the sky. “Look up, Job,” he said. “Look at the clouds, so high above us. God is even higher than that.”
“God is so great,” Elihu said, “that when you do something good, you're not really giving God something He needs. And when someone does wrong, they can't take anything away from God. He is too big for that.”
“So why be good?” Elihu went on. “We do good because it's right, and because it helps the people around us — not because God couldn't get along without us.”
“Here is the amazing part,” Elihu said. “Even though God is so high and so great, He still listens. When good people call out to Him, He hears every word.”
God is bigger than the whole sky. And the One who is that big still leans down to hear a small prayer. That is something wonderful.
