John 14 for Kids

For Kids · 4 min with a grown-up

Jesus knows He's going away soon, and His friends are worried. So He gives them comforting promises to hold onto.

Today's Story

Jesus' friends were sad and worried, because Jesus had told them He was going away soon.

So Jesus comforted them. “Don't let your hearts be troubled,” He said. “Trust in God; trust also in Me.”

“In My Father's house there are many rooms,” Jesus said. “I'm going to get a place ready for you. And I will come back and take you to be with Me, so that where I am, you can be too.”

Thomas asked, “But Lord, how can we know the way?” And Jesus said, “I am the way and the truth and the life.” Jesus Himself is the way to God — like a path that leads us all the way home.

Then Jesus made another promise: “I won't leave you all alone. I'm going to send you a Helper — God's own Spirit — to be with you forever. He'll comfort you, and teach you, and remind you of everything I said.”

“I'm leaving you peace,” Jesus said. “My peace I give you. So don't be afraid.”
