Jesus knows His friends are about to be very sad — so He gives them three promises to hold onto.
Today's Story
Jesus' friends were sad, because He kept saying He was going away. So Jesus comforted them with three promises.
First, He promised a Helper. “I won't leave you all alone,” Jesus said. “When I go, I'll send you the Holy Spirit — a Helper to be with you always. He'll guide you, teach you, and remind you of everything I said.”
Second, He promised joy. “Right now you're sad,” Jesus said. “But your sadness will turn into joy — joy that no one can ever take away.” (He knew He would die — but then rise again!)
Third, He promised victory. “In this world you'll have troubles,” Jesus said. “But take heart! Be brave! I have overcome the world.”
Three promises for sad and scary times: a Helper who never leaves, joy that's coming, and a Jesus who has already won.
