The Bible pauses to make a long list — and the list tells an amazing story of God's faithfulness.
Today's Story
In this part of the Bible, there's a long list — a list of all the kings and lands that God helped Joshua and Israel overcome. Thirty-one kings in all!
Now, a list of names might seem boring. But think about what it really means: every single name on that list is a promise God kept! God had promised to give His people the land, and here was the proof — victory after victory after victory.
When the Israelites first looked at the Promised Land, it seemed impossible. So many cities, so many kings, so many strong walls! But God didn't give them the whole land all at once. He gave it to them step by step, one victory at a time, until the long list was complete.
That's how God often works. He doesn't always do everything all at once. He helps us one step at a time, staying faithful the whole way, until the job is done. The long list was really a long song of praise: “Look how faithful our God has been!”
