Joshua 14 for Kids

For Kids · 4 min with a grown-up

An 85-year-old man named Caleb shows that you're never too old to be strong in faith.

Today's Story

As the land was being divided, an old man named Caleb came to Joshua with a special request. Caleb was 85 years old now! But he was still strong, and his faith was even stronger.

Caleb reminded Joshua of something from long ago. Forty-five years earlier, Caleb had been one of the twelve spies sent to explore the Promised Land. Ten of the spies had been scared and said, “We can't do it! The people are too big!” But Caleb and Joshua had said, “With God's help, we CAN!” Caleb had trusted God with his whole heart, even when everyone else was afraid.

“I followed the Lord my God with my whole heart,” Caleb said. “And here I am, still strong! Now give me that mountain God promised me. There are still giants and strong cities there, but with the Lord helping me, I'll take it!”

At 85 years old, Caleb still had bold, mountain-moving faith! He had followed God wholeheartedly his whole life, and he wasn't about to stop now. Joshua blessed him and gave him the mountain.
