Leviticus 10 for Kids

For Kids · 3 min with a grown-up

This chapter has a sad and serious part. It teaches us that God is holy, and we come to Him with great care and respect.

Today's Story

Aaron had four sons who helped him as priests. Two of them were named Nadab and Abihu.

God had shown His people exactly how to come close to Him in His tent. It was holy, special work, and God asked the priests to do it His way, with great care.

But one day, Nadab and Abihu did not listen. They did something their own way, something God had not asked for at all. They did not treat God's holy place with the respect it needed. And something very sad happened — the two young men died.

Everyone was quiet and sad. Then God reminded His people of an important truth. He said the people who come near to Him must treat Him as holy. God is great and good and pure, and coming to Him is not something to do carelessly. We come to God His way, with love and respect.

Talk About It

  1. Are there rules at home that keep you safe, like not touching a hot stove? Why do good grown-ups make rules like that?
  2. God asked the priests to come to Him His way, with care. What are some ways we can show God love and respect?
  3. God is holy — there is no one else like Him. What is one thing about God that makes you say “wow”?
