Leviticus 13 for Kids

For Kids · 3 min with a grown-up

God gave His people careful rules to help anyone who got sick — because God cares about every person, even when they are not feeling well.

Today's Story

Sometimes one of God's people would get a sore or a sickness on their skin. Back then, there were no doctors' offices like we have today. So God gave His people a careful, kind plan.

If someone found a spot on their skin, they would go to the priest. The priest would look closely and check it, the way a doctor checks us when we feel sick. He would look once, and then wait a few days and look again, to see if it was getting better or worse.

God made these rules to keep everyone safe and healthy. If a sickness could spread to others, the sick person would rest away from the camp for a little while, so their friends and family would stay well too. And the person was never forgotten — the priest kept checking on them.

It shows us something lovely: God cares about people who are sick or hurting. He wanted them looked after, watched over, and welcomed back when they were well.

A Big Word

Talk About It

  1. Who takes care of you when you feel sick? How do they show you they care?
  2. God wanted sick people watched over and welcomed back when they were well. How can we be kind to someone who is sick or lonely?
  3. God did not forget the people who had to rest away for a while. How does it feel to know God never forgets you?
