Long ago, some people had a skin sickness that meant they had to live away from everyone else for a while. Today God shows the happy way back home.
Today's Story
Imagine being sick for a long time and having to stay far away from your family and friends — no hugs, no playing, no home. That happened to some people in the Bible who had a skin sickness.
But God did not forget them. He gave a beautiful rule for the day they got better. When the sickness was gone, the person did not have to stay away anymore. They got to come back!
God told the priest to go out and meet the person — to walk right up to them, look closely, and say the wonderful words: “You are well now. You can come home.”
Then there was a happy little ceremony. There was clean water, like a fresh bath. There was a bird set free to fly up into the open sky — a picture of being free again. The person washed and got all clean, and after a few days they were welcomed all the way back into the camp, back to their family, back to God's people.
God cared about the person nobody else could go near. He made a way to bring them home.
A Big Word
Talk About It
- Have you ever felt left out, like nobody wanted you to join in? How did that feel?
- God sent the priest OUT to welcome the lonely person back. Who is someone at school or in your family you could welcome in this week?
- The bird was set free to fly into the sky. What does it feel like to be free and glad and home again?
