Leviticus 2 for Kids

For Kids · 3 min with a grown-up

God's people could bring Him many kinds of gifts. This one was made from food they grew themselves.

Today's Story

Not every gift to God was an animal. God told His people they could also bring Him a gift made from grain — the wheat they grew in their fields and ground into soft flour.

They could mix the flour with oil and bake it into bread or little cakes. Sometimes they sprinkled a sweet-smelling spice on top. It was warm and good, like something fresh from the kitchen.

Then they brought it to God's tent as a thank-you gift. A small piece was placed on the altar, and the rest was given to the priests who served God there. So the gift fed God's helpers too.

God noticed everyday things. The bread on the table. The work of growing food. The flour on someone's hands. He said, “You can give that to Me.”

It was God's way of saying that the ordinary things in our lives can become a gift of love to Him.

A Big Word

Talk About It

  1. What is one ordinary thing you do every day — like eating breakfast or helping at home? Could you do it as a thank-you to God?
  2. God's people gave Him bread from their own kitchen. What is something you made or did that you could give to God?
  3. Why do you think God cares about everyday little things and not just big, fancy ones?
