Some gifts to God were sad-sorry gifts. But this one was a happy gift — it ended in a feast!
Today's Story
God told His people about a special happy gift, called the friendship gift. It was a way of saying, “Thank You, God! Everything is good between us.”
A family would bring a good animal to God's tent. Part of the gift was given to God on the altar. But here is the wonderful part: the rest of the food became a feast for the family to eat!
They sat down together — moms, dads, kids, grandparents — and shared a happy meal. And it was like sharing it WITH God, right there in His tent. It was a party of peace and friendship.
In those days, when you ate a meal with someone, it meant you were friends. You were close. You were at peace. So this gift was God's way of saying, “We are friends. Come, sit, and enjoy this meal with Me.”
God didn't just want gifts from far away. He wanted to share a happy meal with the people He loved.
A Big Word
Talk About It
- Who do you love to share a meal with? What makes eating together feel so good?
- This gift ended in a happy feast WITH God. Did you know God wants to be your friend? How does that make you feel?
- When you eat dinner with your family tonight, how could you remember that God wants to be close to you too?
