God teaches His people about the gifts they bring to Him — and how He loves a happy, thankful giver.
Today's Story
When God's people wanted to say thank You to Him, they would bring Him a gift. And God taught them something about those gifts.
God said, “When you bring Me a gift, bring your best one.” Not the leftover scraps. Not the one nobody wanted. The good one — the healthy, beautiful, finest gift they had.
Why? Because of who God is! He is the great King who made everything and gives us all that we have. When you really love someone and they have done so much for you, you want to give them something good, don't you? You don't hand them a broken crayon. You pick the best thing you can.
God also told them to bring their gifts with a happy, thankful heart — glad to give, glad to say thank You. A gift given with love means the most of all.
God is so good to us. He is worth our very best, given with a smile.
A Big Word
Talk About It
- If you were giving a gift to someone you love a lot, would you pick your best one or a leftover one? Why?
- God gives us so much. What are three things you are thankful to God for right now?
- Giving your best to God can be your time, your kindness, or your help — not just stuff. What is one “best” thing you could give to God this week?
