God's way to say sorry was not just for rich people. It was for everyone — even families who had almost nothing.
Today's Story
God kept teaching His people how to say sorry and come back to Him. He gave the same loving way to everyone.
But God knew something kind. Some families had lots of animals. Other families were poor and had almost nothing. What if a poor family wanted to say sorry, but they couldn't bring a big animal?
So God said, “If you cannot bring a lamb, bring two little birds.” And then He said something even gentler: “If you cannot even bring two birds, bring a small handful of flour.”
Imagine that! The very poorest person could still come to God with just a little cup of flour, and God would welcome them and forgive them. The Bible says, “They will be forgiven.”
God made sure NO ONE was ever left out. Rich or poor, big gift or tiny gift, His door was always open. He wanted everybody to be able to come close.
A Big Word
Memory Verse
Talk About It
- Have you ever felt left out of something? How did it feel? How do you think it feels to know God never leaves YOU out?
- God let a poor family come with just a little flour. What does that tell us about how God treats people who don't have much?
- Is there someone at school or in your neighborhood who gets left out? How could you welcome them, the way God welcomes us?
