A woman who hasn't stood up straight in eighteen years meets the One who can set her free.
Today's Story
One Sabbath day, Jesus was teaching in the place of worship. A woman was there who had been bent over for eighteen long years. She couldn't stand up straight at all. Imagine not being able to look up at the sky or see people's faces for eighteen years!
When Jesus saw her, He called her over. “Dear woman,” He said, “you are set free!” Then He gently placed His hands on her. And immediately she straightened up — for the first time in eighteen years! She could stand tall! Right away, she began praising God.
But the leader of the worship place was upset. “You shouldn't heal on the rest day!” he complained. Jesus said, “You take care of your animals on the Sabbath, don't you? Shouldn't this dear woman, God's own daughter, be set free on the Sabbath too?”
Jesus cared more about this hurting woman than about looking proper. He set her free because He loved her — and she stood tall and praised God.

- Jesus noticed her when others walked by. How does it feel that Jesus notices people others overlook?
- The first thing the woman did was praise God. What's something you can praise God for today?
