Luke 6 for Kids

For Kids · 4 min with a grown-up

Jesus teaches the secret to getting along with everyone — even people who are unkind.

Today's Story

Great crowds gathered to hear Jesus teach on a level place. He showed them how to live God's way, and some of it was very surprising!

“Love your enemies,” Jesus said. “Be good to those who are unkind to you. Pray for them. If someone is mean, don't be mean back. Be kind instead.”

Then Jesus gave a rule so good and simple that it's now called the Golden Rule: “Do to others as you would have them do to you.” In other words: treat people the way YOU want to be treated. Want kindness? Be kind. Want to be forgiven? Forgive.

Jesus also said, “Don't point out the little speck in someone else's eye while you have a big log in your own!” In other words, look at your own heart before you judge someone else.

And He said the person who hears His words and DOES them is like someone who builds a house on solid rock — when the storms come, it stands strong.

A Big Word

Talk About It

  1. The Golden Rule says treat others the way you want to be treated. How would that change the way we act at home or at school?
  2. Jesus said to love even our enemies. Why is that so hard? How could God help us do it?
  3. Jesus said to look at the “log” in our own eye first. Why is it easier to notice other people's faults than our own?
